Cocaine’s a Hell of a Drug
I thought I would never be surprised by an athlete getting suspended for drugs. I’ve prepared myself for almost anything. I’m ready for all my childhood heroes to fall from grace into a tomb of suspicion, denials and innuendos. But I was not ready for Martina Hingis (allegedly) testing positive for cocaine. This completely and utterly blows my mind. Martina Hingis just doesn’t seem like the coke type.
But who knows, maybe she is. So now she’s retired, and free to do all the blow her little heart desires. And from what I’ve seen in movies, this all is likely to end with a hail of gunfire. But women’s tennis issues always end like that. Just like the famous Battle of the Sexes match where Billie Jean King murdered Bobby Riggs.
