We’re Sorry That We Ruined Your Season
ESPN.com’s Mark Kreidler wrote an interesting article about German cyclist and alleged doper Jan Ullrich. If you recall, about one day prior to the Super Bowl of cycling–the Tour de France–Ullrich was suspended by his team because of his alleged illegal doping in a Spanish investigation. Well, four months later a Spanish judge said “Oops, we made a mistake. Sorry for the incovenience Jan. You weren’t involved.”
Can you imagine how mad Ullrich is right now? He has been cleared of doping charges but dropped by his team, neared the end of his career peak, and couldn’t compete in the first Lance-free Tour de France in eight years. How can this be rectified? I can’t imagine a worse thing happening in an athletic career.
