Tales from the Pitch!

by Albert Bianchi on August 28th, 2006

“As a footballer, if you’re prone to injury it can mean the end of your career, so having your stem cells - a repair kit if you like - on hand makes sense.”

Brains! The anonymous player then added “Bwahahahahaha” as lightning struck ominously in the background. You see, the most recent trend for soccer players across the pond is to save their children’s stem cells (obtained via the embilical cord) so as to possibly use those cells to repair future injuries. In England, apparently it’s fairly common to save stem cells for the child’s use, but only recently has it been thought that they could be used to slightly increase the longevity of an athletes career.

The next step? One enterprising footballer will look to acquire Ted Williams frozen head for his next sinister plot. [Thunder clap]
