Dejuiced! Sports News with No Boundaries

Slightly Less Coke in Miami Today

by Albert Bianchi on November 24th, 2006

The University of Miami announced today that they were dismissing Larry Coker. Just to let you know, I’ve had that statement on my clipboard ready to paste since, well, 2005. The news itself is utterly unremarkable; however, the aftermath has amazing potential. Coker will coach the 6-6 Hurricanes in their inevitable crappy bowl. A lame-duck Larry Coker coaching a .500 team of thugs in a bowl with which they want nothing to do could be one of those truly “U” moments. I didn’t think it was possible for Coker to have even less control, but I think this might be it. With no job to attempt to salvage, will Larry just let them run buck wild and see what happens? It’s completely possible. If somehow Michael Irvin and Lamar Thomas could announce the game, it would be some sort of magical holiday miracle. A true gift of the magi.
