Louisville, May 2016 - For the fourth year in a row President Barbaro II will be the favorite in this years Kentucky Derby presented by McRosoft. He is currently listed as a 3:1 favorite. Thoroughbred purists still have qualms with the nature of the 2006 winner’s return to racing.
In early 2007, due to complications resulting from his broken leg, Barbaro’s first incarnation was euthanized. A ground swell of support led to its brain and genitals being cryogenically frozen. In 2011, a private, anonymous benefactor gained controlling interest of the remains of Barbaro. What happened in the following year remains a mystery to this day. Hints and rumors have been floating around the internet, but none have been corroborated. What exactly happene is inconsequential, because in 2012 Barbaro returned. The new incarnation, rumored to be a mix of robotics, horse stem cells and love, was originally denied entry into that years Kentucky Derby. But the Barbarists, as they would later come to be known, displayed their power for the first time, forcing the Derby to bow to their wishes. They would later push through a constitutional amendment allowing horses, dead horses and part-robot horses to hold public office. Barbaro II was elected president later that year.
