New Mexico St. Football Coach Dismisses Players For Hating Freedom

by Albert Bianchi on August 29th, 2006

Coach Hal Mumme of NM St. is being sued by the ACLU on behalf of three of his former players, all Muslim, who claim their dismissal was based purely on religious prosecution. The suit states that Mumme was trying to create a “religious brotherhood,” and apparently this brotherhood wasn’t non-denominational. The team recited the Lord’s prayer after every practice. (Even Opus Dei doesn’t pray that much.) Plus, the suit alleges that Mumme routinely questioned one of the dismissed players regarding his feelings about Al-Qaeda.

Mumme is standing by his assertion that the players were dismissed for using an unapproved locker. (Seriously.)

In the bigger picture, this is a big step in regards to Muslim assimilation in America. This used to be the thing that would get people blown up, now like true Americans, they take it to court.
