Could She Be On The Juice?
Forty-year-old Gail Devers prevailed over an impressive field in the 60-meter hurdles at the 100th Millrose Games. The 2004 Olympic champion, one of Devers’ students and a former world champion were all in the field. Devers had a child 19 months ago and still managed to run the fastest time in the world this season.
The result suggests one of three things, only one of which really seems plausible in this day and age. A) The women hurdlers in the world are really not very good; B) Devers is just so great that she can still dominate the event at her advanced age (keep in mind she has never been able to win Olympic gold in the hurdles despite being one of the best for her entire career); or, C) she has the same trainers as Barry Bonds and is hopped up on gorilla and horse steroids.
Which one do you think it is? Don’t let that picture influence your decision. Ok, go ahead, because it colored mine.
