The Weekend In Pigskinnery

by Albert Bianchi on December 17th, 2007

- Brett Favre broke another record. Per their contract with the NFL, my local CBS affiliate was required to show the highlight incessantly, even if it meant missing the Miami Dolphins win in overtime. But Brett Favre has another career record.

- That Dolphins win wasn’t that surprising, as the Ravens-post-Patriots collapse continues. It really brings to the forefront the paradox of coaching that is Brian Billick. The man has coached a Super Bowl winning team and coordinated one of the best offenses ever. But then you watch a Ravens game, and it’s a mess. And yet last season they were 13-3. I don’t understand him at all.

- If Jessica Simpson turns out to be the jinx that destroys the Cowboys, I will love her even more. She pulls this off, and I’ll even see her latest direct-to-DVD film craptacular.

- Rich Fuckin Rodriguez leaves West Fuckin Virginia for the University of Fuckin Michigan.

- That Nor’easter in New England must have derailed a ridiculous amount of fantasy seasons. These teams were cruising along all season on Brady’s shoulders, and were counting on the Pats running up the score in their second Jets tilt. Alas, the weather interfered and Brady disappointed. (And cost me some money.)

- Jeremy Shockey might have a broken leg, but that doesn’t mean he’s still not the baddest ass in all the NFL.

- Football in the snow isn’t just for ruining fantasy football seasons, it’s also undeniably more fun to celebrate in.
