NFL Network, Significantly Less Evil Than Comcast
Now, I think we all agree that the pissing match between cable companies (Comcast among others) and league-specific cable channels (NFL Network, Big Ten Network) is pretty inconvenient. (Although, thankfully, it made me miss the Appalachian State game.) None of it is really permanently damaging. This is essentially business negotiations, and both parties are responsible for the loss of viewable games. So there’s no real “bad guy” on the initial level. But then there’s Comcast’s offensive “putting fans first” campaign — the fake grassroots campaign which attempts to make the cable companies heroic defenders of the fan, but instead squarely puts the cable companies on the sinister side of the debate. The NFL Network nicely refuted the main argument in one of their commercials, and they did that without insulting my intelligence.
They bring up a pretty good point. Hell, even the sports channels I have I don’t particularly want. The Speed Channel and Golf Channel, really?
