He’s Not Heavy, and He Ain’t my Brother - college football scores

by Albert Bianchi on November 7th, 2007

Dear Michigan State University,

Michael Hart may consider you the University of Michigan’s little brother. I am going to have to disagree with him. I have a little brother. I like my little brother. You’re not our little brother. You’re probably some sort of relative. Perhaps you’re a cousin who we see at Thanksgiving but are not really that close with? That’s still not right, but let’s be clear on this one thing: little brother you are not. This needn’t be a bad thing.

We may not like you, but the University of Michigan doesn’t dislike you, per se. (We do find you incredibly annoying at times, but we don’t hate you. Hate is such a strong word.) What we do have is an intense indifference towards you. I cannot describe how much you do not matter to us. There are many different colleges that are also in the state. There’s Eastern Michigan, Central Michigan, Western Michigan etc. We don’t consider them rivals either, but they don’t really get that offended by it. We all get along, you want in? Here’s how:

All you need to do is stop talking so much before games. (See: Dantonio’s “moment of silence.“) That usually backfires on you. But if you must, don’t be so upset when Michigan responds in kind. (See: Dantonio after Michigan’s moment of silence.) If you talk smack, then you lose, it comes back two-fold. That’s just how trash-talking works. Also, you guys have to come to terms that you’re not our rival. We can still be your rival if you want, but I mean, we can only have so many rivals. If we let everybody be our rival, the term would lose all meaning. You’re just one of those green and white colleges in the state, and that’s really not so bad, is it? I don’t think so, why do you?

Sincerely,

Dejuiced

It’s really not the Spartans fault that EVERYONE wants to be your rival, and EVERYONE enjoys beating you and seeing you lose just as much as they do. Why? I’m sure all of the Michigan fans will say “because we’re so much better than everyone” that seems to be the thought process in Ann Arbor. Nope that’s not it, it’s because everybody hates you because of that exact thought process. Quit acting like you’re better than everyone, quit being such douche bags all the time, quit having classless no-talent thugs like Hart represent your school on national television. Heisman my ass. Keep walking with your noses in the air you stuck up pricks. I can’t wait until THE Ohio State University comes to Ann Arbor and beats your ass AGAIN.

Enjoying a victory does not a rivalry make. I would very much like to see Michigan beat USC. In the unlikely even that it happens, I would probably enjoy it immensely. Doesn’t make it a rivalry.

Hey Albert, did you even go to the University of Michigan (and by that I don’t mean go as in a trip but actually attend classes)? Just wondering what YOUR affliliation is and how strong it must be to determine who the school’s rivals are.

As a UM student, all I have to say is one thing to Nick P…Pot.Kettle.Black. We’re classless thugs? Have you even seen your team? I’m pretty sure the same guy who planted thier flag on ND’s field (Caulcrick) is crying foul about Michigna holding a moment of silence. The block M is the 2nd highest grossing sports symbol in the world besides the New York Yankees symbol, so don’t tell me that everyone hates us. You’re so caught up in a rivalry that doesn’t actually mean anything to us. You guys are so cute…
