I Refuse to Believe the Fenway Hawk Story
Ok, I bought it when I heard that a school girl was attacked by a hawk at Fenway Park. I even believed that her name was Alexa Rodriguez. That’s a common enough name, it could happen. I draw the line, however, when someone has pictures of said hawk attack. Really? It just so happened that someone was taking pictures of the hawk and this girl from an angle above the hawk? And that same person managed to get a picture mid attack? I call bull. Not this close to April Fools Day, no way.

Sorry- but it’s true and not staged. I work in the area and can see the hawks circling Fenway Park. The nest appeared to be right outside the press box, which may explain the great footage. One of the hawks gave another show at opening day carrying a rat around in its talons! The muddy river is right there and is home to several red tailed hawks.

But why was a newspaper photographer taking pictures of a field trip?

Good question! But the “attack” was just before opening day and there have been news trucks all around the area. I’ve seen video of the hawk as well on You Tube. You’ll have to ask the Globe why they happened to be there.

This hawk has excellent press. I’m impressed.
