In Australia, a 9-year-old girl has been banned for grunting while on the court. The girl, named Lauryn Edwards, was told to be quiet or she couldn’t play anymore. Reportedly, the little girl let loose a grunt and then was kicked out.
How ridiculous is this? Banning a 9-year-old for grunting while playing tennis? Isn’t that […]

Roger Clemens, as some of you may be aware, is doing some pitching for the Houston Astros. He’s basically throwing the ball around with the minor leaguers. His son Koby Clemens is one of those Astros minor leaguers.
Obviously, the media has been all over Clemens ever since his much publicized steroids meeting on Capitol Hill. […]

Now I feel a bit guilty. I fill in for Al with a post about Yao Ming getting dunked on and now I have to break the news that Yao is out for the season. My bad, Yao.
Yao suffered a stress fracture in his foot. I’m guessing feet aren’t really made to prop up […]

Drew Gooden wasted no time creating his first poster as a member of the Chicago Bulls. Playing in his first game after being traded by the Cleveland Cavaliers, Gooden dunked all over Yao Ming. Watch this YouTube if you have any doubts.
Yao is no stranger to getting dunked on but that was embarrassing […]

Check out Barack Obama posing with the Heisman .
Sorry, about the title. I was thinking about about UT Can, because he’s at the University of Texas. Anyways, it’s nice to see that Senator Barack Obama would do the same thing any of us would do if we encountered the Heisman Trophy. Pose! I also […]

There is a good chance that Tony Romo is the most talented musician in this picture.
Because today is all about presenting insinuation as news, Jessica Simpson and Tony Romo are getting married! Or at least their friends think that they’re good together. Really, isn’t that the same thing?
“I think they’re going to get married,” Romo’s […]

Tiger Woods was three strokes down with five holes to play to some cat named J.B. Holmes at the Accenture Match Play Championship. Naturally, he won one-up.
Woods was 3 down with five holes to play when he holed a 15-foot birdie putt on the 14th. Then came Holmes’ lone mistake down the stretch, a three-putt […]

When I first saw the news that Candace Parker, star of the Lady Volunteers basketball team, was going pro a year early, I was taken a bit aback. Why would someone possibly leave school early to join the WNBA? Then I read the article. She’s not leaving early. She’s graduating this year. This is not […]

That’s because he’s giving up hand-shakes. Or at least he will be giving up the intricate, celebratory handshakes he used to do with his teammates. Because God forbid that anyone have fun while playing baseball.
In addition to the Mets’ championship dreams, a part of Jose Reyes’ died on that final weekend at Shea Stadium. The […]

Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski got all passive-aggressive about the fact that North Carolina has a lot of injured players and that people know that North Carolina has a lot of injured players. So, naturally, when talking about his own injured player, Coach K said his team didn’t discuss injuries “unlike other schools.” This apparent slight […]

Tom Coughlin will be rewarded for coaching the New York Giants to a Super Bowl victory with a four-year contract extension. This is hardly newsworthy, sometimes I just like to reaffirm that the New York Giants did indeed win the Super Bowl.
Coughlin will be given a new long-term contract with a substantial raise, and it […]

You know those race cars that don’t look like cars at all, but like rocket ships with big wheels on the side. Apparently there was two different groups of those rocket ship cars, but now they’re going to have the people with rocket ship cars race the other people with rocket ship cars. Rocket ship […]

The current month is February. Lest you think I am mistaken, note the general sorrow around you and my general inability to find compelling stories to blog about. It is undoubtedly February. On Saturday, it will still be February when Tennessee plays Memphis. Now, this may be a one-versus-two matchup and Memphis may be undefeated […]

Houston Astros outfielder and fellow b5 blogger Hunter Pence spent the night in the emergency room after crashing through a sliding glass door. Firstly, I’m really glad Hunter’s injuries are minor, and I hope he makes a quick recovery. Secondly, I’d like to note how badass Hunter Pence is.
“It’s pretty silly that this kind of […]

Yes! Can you believe it? Even more quotes about baseball and steroids that don’t just seem to be exactly clued in. This one is from extreme peripheral figure Hank Steinbrenner. Hank thinks baseball is unfairly being made the focus of performance-enhancing drugs in sports.
“I don’t like baseball being singled out,” the New York Yankees […]

This time, no Devean George, and 100% more of retired Keith Van Horn. It’s the same trade as before, just with different accessories. It’s the same Mavericks giving up on the future of Devin Harris for Steve Nash without the shooting ability trade as last time. Awesome plan! At least the Suns went in a […]

After he won the Daytona 500, Ryan Newman did two things I didn’t think were possible. First, he somehow managed to make the inside of his car fill with smoke during his celebratory lap, and he brought the phrase “Hello, Newman” back to America’s consciousness. On behalf of Wayne Knight, I thank you, Ryan Newman.
(AP […]
